Happy Easter!

Here comes Peter Cottontail!
A Very Happy Easter!

Aedyn is so very Dapper in his Easter outfit!Grammy Bev and Aedyn!
Mommy and Aedyn having a laugh!Opening Grammy's Basket full of goodies! I love my shoes, they're good enough to eat!
Bunny kisses!

Mommy and Daddy's basket to Aedyn!
Puppet Show for One! Daddy does the best voices!
That puppet cracks me up!
Help I'm blind! just kidding, Aedyn is wearing his new pair of sunglasses now that Spring fever is here!
Aedyn's first Easter was very laid back. My Mom came up on Saturday night. We had a leisurely morning and afternoon, followed by an Early dinner of Ham,scalloped potatoes, and green beans.

Oh yeah,we opened Easter baskets too! Aedyn got a bunny, bunny ears, and a Pooh outfit from Grammy, an Einstein DVD from Grandpa and Grandma Young, and handpuppets and a Grover book from Mommy and Daddy.
Then we got all dolled up and went to evening service at Cornerstone church. The message was great, straight-forward but poignant. They have a cry room, which is a seperate soundproof room for families with young babies to go to, and we had to go in there. Aedyn, as Shane says, was as good as gold, he didn't make a peep throughtout the whole service. After service we headed overto Coldstone for a scoopof ice cream.Boy was it a beautiful day!

It was a wonderful day!

Time sure does fly!

Aedyn goes crazy in his bath.Splashing water everywhere!

Ahha! Gotcha ya Mommy and Grammy!

Touching my toes!
Mommy found me the other morning like this. I had Rolled over from back to tummy.
A New taste, Sour Pickle! One day Aedyn grabbed the pickle in my hand and shoved it into his mouth. He started sucking and gumming without so much as a grimace on his face. He loves it!
Some of Daddy's work friends swarming around me !
Trying to make a zerbert!

Wow, we can't believe that Aedyn is already 6 months old! This last Friday was the big half birthday(meaning he's a half a year old). We spent the first part of the day at the doctor's for our 6month checkup. He always does so well. Here's the low down on how fast he is growing; he weighs 19lbs 12 oz., he is 26 1/2 inches long, and his head circumference is 17 1/2 inches. So he is growing well, and he only cried for less than a minute when getting his immunizations.

The second half of the day we spent at Shane's work. Well, we really only went for lunch, but it usually ends up in a parade around the office while Daddy shows Aedyn off. I happily take second fiddle when this occurs! It's so funny to watch professional people melt with smiles when they see his face. After the Aedyn parade we did end up eating lunch.

New things Aedyn is exploring are reaching and grabbing his toes, making zerberts with his mouth, rolling over from back to tummy, eating pickles, oh and splashing like crazy in the bathtub to soak the entire kitchen, including Mommy and Daddy!

Remembering

It was one year ago today that Connor Patrick was born. I do not want to dwell on the past, but I can't help remembering that we were given the gift of caring for a beautiful baby boy, even if it was only for a month. I pray today that he is well, happy, and deeply loved.

I now know why things came to be as they are today; simply because Our son, our miracle, our blessing Aedyn, was waiting for us to be his parents as we waited longingly for him. He brings a peace to our family. In knowing this it gives me great joy! There is a rhyme and a reason to everything and life's mysteries will present itself to you in time if you have patience, endurance, gratitude, and mostly a kind, loving, and open heart.

My 31st Birthday!

My 31st birthday was this last Monday! I planned on blogging about it on Monday night, but bed looked too inviting. So actually my birthday festivities started on Saturday when we drove to Riverside to Kat & Jon's. The whole night was a surprise,I had no idea what Kathy had planned and conspired with Shane about. It could have been anything, and my imagination did run wild at times! Anyhow, we got to their house about 3pm,opened presents (I got cards and smelly goods from Kat and Jon, Flowers and chocolates from my Mom, Wonderful by American Beauty perfume, two books, and a $50 gift card to Starbucks from Shane), and then headed over to Islands at about 5pm for a quick dinner, they were very concerned that we leave as close to 6 pm as possible. I knew by that point the adventure was not going to include Aedyn, so I kissed him and left him in Grammy Bev's hands. We all crawled into the vehicles, girls(Kat,me, Heather, and Summer) in one car, and boys(Shane and Jon) in the other. As we drove on the 91 closer to Disneyland my mind started spinning. We all were dressed up a bit, so actually going to the park didn't seem likely! We proceeded to the parking structure and got on the tram. It drops us off and instead of taking a left to the park we take a right to Downtown Disney, at this time I kinda figured we are heading to the House of Blues(maybe). We get there and I'm looking at the marquee and nothing is showing but events in April. The surprise was we were seeing Ingrid Michaelson in concert, along with others on her tour. Hooray! (Ingrid is an up and coming artist that is so talented, not just as a vocalist but as a songwriter.) It was a great suprise. On top of that, what would have been a 3 hour stand turned into a VIP experience. Kathy used her "talents" to get us into the VIP friends of the band and performers section. We sat in the balcony and it was a great experience. All of the artists were unique, but Ingrid rocked! She was so honest and funny.

My suprised face. This was genuine!Sisters! My ticket and VIP sticker!

Ingrid Michealson in the flesh! The whole gang after the concert!

The next morning we awoke and had a huge breakfast at a little restaurant around the corner, and then drove home. At about 4pm my Dad and Helen arrived and we went out to dinner at Famous Daves. Boy, it was finger-lickin' good! The next morning,my actual birthday, Shane had to go to work, so the rest of us went to Panera for some goodies. They have the best bagel there called the Cinnamon Crunch bagel, it takes like a donut to me. Plans changed around a bit, but we ended up at the Thousand Oaks mall where we had lunch at Johnny Rockets(it was only so so), but then did a little shopping at a store called Torrid. It's the greatest place, it's a plus-size store with cool hip fashions! I found a dress that I can actually wear for Easter Sunday and maybe even Nina's wedding! I was stoked. Dad and Helen had to leave around 3pm. The rest of the day was pretty low key. Shane had to finish a homework assignement that proved to be more difficult than anticipated. So we actually went out to dinner last night, Tuesday! Thus, ending the birthday festivities!

It was a beautiful birthday, much better than last year(if any of you can remember I decided not to celebrate due to circumstances happening at that time). I appreciate everyone's effort to make this one special. I must admit on Monday, Aedyn flashed me a smile as if to say Happy Birthday Mommy, this might have been the best gift of all!

Rolled over!

Aedyn sucking on his bottom lip.

Oopsy daisy!

Ok, so it may not be the first time he rolled over, but it was the very first without any assistance from Shane or I. We were playing on the floor and Aedyn was sitting up and he wanted his piano, which was about a foot in front of him, so he went to grab for it and landed on his tummy. He stayed there for about 15 seconds, mostly in shock to find himself face down, and then he got pissed off and pushed himself right over on his back! I was shocked and delighted!

He is also doing this new weird thing with his lip, where he's sucking on the bottom and blowing to make a weird sound. He has also discovered how to make raspberries sounds with his tongue. He laughs out loud and is very ticklish. He loves to rock his body to music and loves the OUR Special Family version of Row Your Boat. He loves his Baby Einstein DVD.

Oh, and we think he will be getting his first tooth soon. He is getting a whiteish bud on his front lower gums.

The Man of My Dreams!

As Aedyn and I slept peacefully, Shane managed to rise out of bed at 2:30 in the morning today to be ready by 3am. Why, you might ask? To drive with a friend to be with another friend facing a terrible truth! Shane's long time friend, Adam, called him yesterday to inform him that their longtime friend, Lee, has just been diagnosed with Cancer. Adam asked if Shane would drive with him to Lake Havasu, AZ to be with with Lee before he goes into emergency surgery removing a lump from his neck! Shane did not think about it twice, of course he would go. So they drove all morning, about 5-6 hours to be there for him before the surgery, and visited with him after the surgery was done, then drove all the way back home in one day! It was a selfless act, a beautifully kind gesture, and one that makes me swell with awesome love for my husband. How many people can wake in the morning knowing that the man of their dreams breathes only inches away from them. I know I can.

Not only did he do this wonderful act,but this prior weekend busted his butt lifting and straining heavy objects moving my mother to her new place. He did all of this with a wonderful attitude and good spirit.

We, as humans, can get caught up in the mundane trivias of everyday life, but I challenge everyone, myself included,to find the positive and radiant attributes of the people who fill our lives!
